For some, a good start to the day often begins with a cup of coffee. But when it comes to having your favorite beverage while fasting, it’s best to have it black.

Black coffee, tea and herbal tea are close to calorie-free, and are all perfectly fine to consume in moderation during your fasting phase.

However, cream, milk or plant-based milk could take you out of your fasting phase, because the calories ingested may set your digestion into motion again and prevent autophagy (cell cleaning). 

You should be fine with a splash if your goal is fat loss. Just aim for the less processed types without added sugar.  

Pro tip: Pimp your coffee with a little cinnamon or shift your fasting window so you can enjoy your morning coffee with cream.
