You may think that artificial sweeteners could be a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while fasting, but be mindful that just because they have low (or no) calories, it doesn’t mean they won’t break your fast.
Sweeteners have very low calories. That said, studies show that regular use may interfere with our metabolism and autophagy. Plus, the artificial ones could be bad for our health – impacting our gut bacteria and how we use insulin.
A stick of gum or sprinkle of Splenda in your coffee is fine from time to time, but for optimal health and fasting results, aim to go without. You’re sweet enough as you are!
